What could SEO and SEM possibly mean... Before this Wednesday I had never heard of either of these mysterious acronyms. Turns out SEO and SEM are both very important when it comes to social media marketing.
Let's start with SEO. Search Engine Optimization is "the process of maximizing the number of visitors to a particular website by ensuring that the site appears high on the list of results returned by a search engine". When utilizing social media for marketing purposes it is very important to maximize the number of times people see your page or post. SEM on the other hand, stands for Search Engine Marketing. SEM deals with paid clicks which allows data to be gathered and money to be made.
Dr. Mueller has had great success with his online presence using both SEO and SEM and had great information and advice to share. I think I can speak for our class when I say any new knowledge about social media and blogging is very welcome and appreciated!
